The spectrometry equipment includes the CdTe detector (a second detector has been purchased in
order to validate observations), the power supply, a MCA and a computer.
Without such equipment, all named alchemy research may not be considered efficient because the
searcher has not the possibility to verify that the process he follows will produce the
Philosopher's Stone.
Better detector is a Germanium crystal, the inconvenient is that it requires to be cooled
with liquid nitrogen.
I want to emphasize that the use of others detectors is appropriate : photomultiplier, Geiger
detector, ..., but they are auxiliary tools for routine measurements, for example to follow
the nuclear activity in a precise range of energy defined with the CdTe detector.
Detector calibration
Raw materials spectra.
After putrefaction.
Detector calibration
Reference radioactive sources are used to calibrate the detector. For the research I prefer
to prepare pure radioactive sources from tailing of processed uranium ores, the reason is that perfect
peaks, free of interferences are obtained.
I now calibrate the gamma spectrometer with Th-232 from Thorite.
