 What does it mean ?

According all alchemists it is impossible to make the Philosopher'Stone without that Mercury. But other Middle Age alchemists say that Our Mercury is enough to make the Stone. Since we know that the matter of alchemists is made from uranium oxyde, it is clear that the Mercury of Alchemists is necessarily an uranyl salt processed in such a way that it is activated from a nuclear point of view.

Now, therefore, I have demonstrated the disposition of the white lead, all which afterwards follows being no more than women's work and child's play. Turba Philosophorum

It exists a strong difference between the English text and the French text of Turba Philosophorum. What has to be understood is that the preparation of the Stone becomes very easy when you get the Mercury : nature works alone, it is only necessary to heat correctly, that can be done by a child. It means that the most difficult part of the alchemy work is the preparation of Mercury from raw minerals of uranium, and this preparation is, of course, the U-235 enrichment of the matter.

 Preparation of the Mercury

I will only talk about theory and will give you a proof that it works.
If you consult nuclear physics books you will note that it is said that natural uranium is made of two isotopes : U-238 (98.28 %) and U-235 (0.72 %). Of course we may also consider the presence of U-234 which is a decay product of U-238, but the point I want to emphasize relies on a very simple question : why U-235 is present and why its concentration is not the same for all uranium ores ?
The case of the Oklo natural reactor is well known, I read all the work made by the French Free Masson lodge of atomic energy commission, ... one of the guys in charge of the study argues that Oklo natural nuclear reactor occured because at that time the mineral had a high content in plutonium-239 which decays giving Uranium-235. So with water , ... a chain of nuclear reactions of fission occured. .... It means that for State Scientists millions years ago Plutonium was present in uranium ores and consequently U-235 is the result of that Pu concentration.
If the hypothesis of CEA is right you should have observe in many uranium ores old nuclear reactivities of fission and most of uranium ores should have a very variable content in U-235.
Fortunately I do not belong to the typical French standard. The result is that I related the historical fact of alchemy with the natural synthesis of the super heavy element I named Trinitium (Tn). Such synthesis is possible because in nature (or in your flask) it is possible to have a synergy of nuclear reactions. Considering U-238 is the natural stable state of uranium and observing that fission is a nuclear property of U-238, I say that the fission produces enough energy (around 170 MeV) to initiate various secondary nuclear reactions. Consequently I may describe some of the reactions conducing to Uranium-235 :

Other reaction that does not disturb too much what we know today is :

The last reaction is an other way to get Plutonium-239 observed as traces in some ores of uranium.

Of course it is quite possible to criticize these results, but I want to say that I use an hypothesis which seems to me very rational : all natural phenomenons try to reach the most stable state in determined conditions. It means that Uranium-235 may only be created via the nuclear reactions described above, or saying it in a different manner : Uranium-235 is the product of secondary nuclear reactions of the stable Uranium-238. Our world is the result of God creation of matter.
Of course the probability of indicated nuclear reactions is low in natural conditions, it involves the fission rate of Uranium-238 and the synergy of secundary nuclear reactions (which is low in nature).

 Experimental results

The preparation of the Mercury may be studied via the variation of the isotopic ratio U-235 / U-238, see detail of the method. You will note an increase of the isotopic ratio U-235 / U-238 after each cycle of operations required by the preparation of the alchemist Mercury. The resulting Mercury of alchemist becomes the key compound to produce the Stone : the production of a macroscopic amount of the Trinitium fluoride, via a synergy of nuclear reactions.
The preparation of the Mercury may be computed via : α_1 = k . α_0
α_1 = isotopic ratio after one cycle of operations
k = enrichment coefficient
α_0 = initial isotopic ratio.   α_0 =, 0.72 %
If you obtain α_1 = 0.84 % or more , after the first cycle ; you did a good job.

The preparation of the Mercury is a very hard job, but alchemists had found a very clever way to reach the goal using basic materials found everywhere. The most surprising fact is that they had discovered at least two paths to get a Mercury good enough to make the Stone. To demonstrate the efficiency of one of the alchemy method, see the alpha spectra of the Mercury after one cycle of operations : U-235 content raises from 0.72 to 1.30.
It is quite obvious that at least one thousand years before State Scientists , some people knew the nuclear properties of uranium, and how to control it in order to produce the Stone which is the Trinitium Fluoride. When some countries have used hundreds billions of dollars to attempt to synthesize Superheavy elements, these guys with earth beakers were able to produce Superheavy elements spending only the cost of minerals discarded by miners !
In my opinion Kazakhstan, Namibia , Niger, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, should better cancel their contracts with Areva because of "Vice caché" , and use their uranium ressources for the benefit of their countries.


 Application

Evidently it belongs to you to apply the observed facts. Don't think about old alchemy It does not present any interest for you because understanding of old alchemy books are not easy if you are unable to relate indications with the most appropriate scientific method.
The checked hypothesis of creation of Uranium-235 may present an interest for some countries where energy saving is important.
